What temperature is thermostat 6?
Thermostat 6 is 180 °C (356 °F, about 350 °F on a US dial). In a fan oven use 160 °C; that’s gas mark 4.

Fan (convection) ovens cook hotter, so set them about 20 °C lower (25 °F in American recipes). Every oven runs a little differently — an oven thermometer shows the real temperature.

- Unless the recipe says “fan” or “convection”, it means a conventional oven with top and bottom heat. For a fan oven, go about 20 °C lower.
